Come Home to Yourself: a journey through the Koshas

A 2 hour yoga workshop near Ilminster in Somerset exploring the five layers of you: body, breath, mind, wisdom and contentment.

Have you ever felt physically tired, mentally busy, emotionally overwhelmed or simply a little disconnected from yourself?

The ancient yogic tradition offers a beautiful way of understanding these different aspects of our experience through the five koshas, the layers that make up who we are.

Join me for a 2 hour workshop in Somerset, where we’ll explore each of the five koshas through gentle yoga, somatic movement, breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, reflection and deep relaxation.

You don’t need to know anything about the koshas or yoga philosophy. This is a practical, accessible and nurturing yoga workshop in Somerset, designed to help you understand yourself a little better, and discover simple ways to bring more balance into everyday life.

The five koshas we’ll explore

Annamaya — The Physical Body
We’ll begin with the body, exploring movement, sensation and the signals our bodies are constantly giving us. You’ll have space to notice what your body needs rather than pushing it to do more.

Pranamaya — Breath & Energy
We’ll explore the connection between breath, energy and how we respond to stress. You’ll learn simple breathing practices that can help you pause, reset and restore your energy.

Manomaya — Mind & Emotions
Our minds can be busy places! Through gentle movement and mindfulness, we’ll explore our thoughts, emotions and habitual patterns — and practise stepping back from them rather than getting caught up in them.

Vijnanamaya — Inner Wisdom
This is the quieter voice beneath all the noise. Through intuitive movement and reflection, we’ll explore self-trust, awareness and listening to what you already know deep down.

Anandamaya — Contentment & Connection
Finally, we’ll move towards stillness and explore those moments of peace, joy and contentment when we stop trying to fix, achieve or improve ourselves and simply allow ourselves to be.

What to expect

This isn’t a workshop about perfect yoga poses or complicated philosophy. It’s an opportunity to slow down, tune in and reconnect with yourself. During this Somerset yoga workshop you’ll experience:

  • Gentle, accessible yoga and somatic movement
  • Breathwork and nervous-system calming practices
  • Mindfulness and meditation
  • Space for personal reflection
  • Journaling prompts to help you explore the koshas in your everyday life
  • A deeply relaxing guided relaxation/Yoga Nidra
  • Simple practices you can take away and use in daily life

Come away with a better understanding of yourself

The koshas offer a simple framework for asking:

How is my body feeling?
How is my energy?
What’s going on in my mind?
What is my inner wisdom telling me?
What helps me feel content and connected?

Sometimes we need movement. Sometimes we need rest. Sometimes we need to breathe, quieten the mind or simply stop trying to fix ourselves.

The koshas can help us recognise what we need, and give us practical tools to support ourselves.

This workshop is for you if…

You’d like to:

  • Feel more connected to your body
  • Slow down a busy mind
  • Learn simple ways to manage everyday stress
  • Develop greater self-awareness
  • Reconnect with your intuition
  • Give yourself some much-needed time and space
  • Explore yoga beyond the physical postures
  • Simply spend two nourishing hours looking after yourself
