Classes

I teach Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Flow Yoga and Yin Yoga in the Ilminster, Donyatt and Chard area of Somerset.  I also teach yoga at Jordans Cortyard, Horton Cross.  

 

I use some  breath work  in my classes, synchronising movement with the flow of breath to improve mind, body and energy levels.

Hatha Yoga classes in Ilminster, Donyatt and Jordans Courtyard in Somerset

Suitable for beginners and anyone wanting a more gentle style of yoga. The Hatha class begins with gentle stretching, followed by traditional yoga poses and ends with a wonderful lying-down relaxation leaving you feeling soothed and calm.  Ideal for easing out stiff backs and for busy people needing to unwind and release tension after a day at work.

 

Holistic Yoga at Axminster Health & Wellbeing Centre

An eclectic style of nurturing hatha and yin yoga, incorporating pranayama, warm up stretches and gentle yoga poses which tone the body and improve flexibility.  Each session will end with a blissful guided relaxation that leaves you feeling calm and peaceful.  The class is suitable for older beginners, see Therapeutic Yoga for more details.

 

Vinyasa Flow classes at Donyatt, Somerset

 An energising, faster-paced yoga where we move continuously through a flowing sequence of yoga poses.   Suitable for anyone who has done yoga before, or is new to yoga but has a reasonable fitness level. This class is more dynamic and strengthens and challenges the body.

 

Yin Yoga at Jordans Courtyard, Horton Cross, Somerset

A quiet slow paced style of yoga which calms the mind and stretches the body. Most Yin Yoga postures are seated or lying poses targeting the hips, legs and back. The postures are held for up to 5 minutes, which enables you to stretch deeper into the body, beyond the surface muscles to target and stress the connective tissues of the fascia, tendons and ligaments.  

Holding poses for an extended period of time intensifies and deepens the stretch.  Bolsters, blocks and blankets are used to support you in the pose so you don’t over stretch.  All poses can be adapted to suit all levels of flexibility and everyone is encouraged to work within their own limit, making it a style of yoga suitable for all abilities including beginners.

You will leave a Yin Yoga class feeling light and spacious in the body as well as having a sense of calm and peace in the mind.   Other benefits of Yin Yoga include greater flexibility, better lubrication for the joints and improved posture. 

 

All classes are relaxed and friendly and take place at the following times and venues:

Monday evening in Donyatt Village Hall on A358 at TA19 0RG

  • 7pm to 8pm Hatha Yoga
  • 8.15pm to 9.15pm Vinyasa Flow Yoga

 

Tuesday morning at the Archie Gooch Pavilion (Ilminster Football Club), Canal Way,   Ilminster TA19 9FE  

  • 9.30am to 10.30am Hatha Yoga

 

Tuesday evening at @ the Yoga Barn in Jordans Courtyard, Horton Cross nr Ilminster.

  • 5.15pm to 6.15pm Yin Yoga

 

Wednesday morning at Axminster Health & Wellbeing Centre,  Chard St, Axminster EX13 5DZ

  • 10.30am – 11.45am Holistic Yoga – starts 13th November 2019

  • 6.45pm to 7.45pm Hatha Yoga

Classes at Donyatt and Ilminster are £6 per session – no need to book, just drop in!
